Welcome to my website. Like many personal pages, it contains a mixture of things. Much of it is about my friends and my family history. The latter is a hobby that I have been pursuing (some would say, obsessively) since 1994. The Fifer family came from the town of Kalisz in Poland. In August 1999, I agreed to act as the co-ordinator for the project indexing Jewish records for this town so that they can become part of a database searchable on the Web.

I live with my partner Joe in Enfield, a suburb in north London. I've worked in education all my life - first as a teacher of languages, then as an education officer in local government and after that for City & Guilds, the UK's largest vocational awarding body. In April 2005, I left full time employment to set up my own business as a computer trainer.

In addition to family history, I have an interest in all things technological - doing research on the Web brings these two interests together nicely.

This is Joe Sipos - engineer, photographer, piano player and cook - a multi-talented man for the new millennium. He came to England from Hungary in 1956 and supposedly retired several years ago. However, he seems busier than ever pursuing his many interests and travelling extensively. His windswept look in this picture comes from being at the top of a lighthouse in Florida on a rather breezy evening in October 1999.
